Exams & Hall Changes
Most of you will be aware through the WhatsApp group that exams are coming up again at Brakenhale which will mean the sports hall is out of action. This will affect our sessions on the below dates:
Wednesday 26th February
Saturday 1st March
Wednesday 5th March
The affected Wednesday sessions will move to the drama studio with a revised timetable as we have done previously:
6:15pm - Ages 5-12
7pm - All ages and abilities
8pm - All ages and abilities
The Saturday session is harder to move due to other the Brakenhale halls being in use. We ran a poll on the Whats App group and following that have decided to split the classes to enable as many people as possible to still attend a session. The classes will take place at the below dates/times and anyone who would normally attend a Saturday session can join either class:
Saturday 1st March - 3pm to 4pm - All ages and abilities
Sunday 2nd March - 10am to 11am - All ages and abilities
New Venues
Due to the ongoing disruption caused by exams at Brakenhale School and the repeated broken promises by the school to put plans in place to enable us to still use the sports hall during exams we are looking at finding new venues for our classes.
We have had positive conversations with two venues and hope to bring you some good news soon. There could very well be changes before the month is over and we will update you as soon as possible. Please bare with us over the next month or so as there may be some big changes at relatively short notice but these will hopefully result in much reduced disruption longer term.
Disabled Parking at Brakenhale
Please ensure you are not using the disabled parking at Brakenhale School unless you have blue badge parking permit. Instructors have permission from the school to park here due to transporting equipment but other than that these spaces should be kept clear and available for people with disabilities.
Cash Payments
We currently allow one off payments for 6 month renewals, licence/grading fees and orders from the club store to be made using cash. If you are paying in cash then this should be done so immediately in the next class you attend. We are seeing a large number of payments not being made for weeks at a time and requiring chasing up.
If you are making a payment in cash please do so in a timely manner. We wish to keep cash as a payment option but will need to consider removing it if delayed payments continue. Thanks for your support.
Women's Self Defence Class
The next women's self defence classes are:
- 9am, Sunday 23rd February, Brakenhale School. Currently 10 places remaining. Click here to book!
- 9am, Sunday 30th March, Brakenhale School. Currently 11 places remaining. Click here to book!
These classes are open to all women regardless of whether or not they are a Berkshire Martial Arts student.

The Running Man
Sabumnim Taylor has done something stupid and signed himself up for the Bracknell Half Marathon on Sunday 11th May. He will be raising money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and hopes to raise at least £500. This Month's Grading
This month's colour belt grading will be held on Sunday 23rd February at Brakenhale School. Further details will be provided to eligible students the week before the grading. The day will run to the approximate schedule below:
9am - Womens' Self Defence Class
10am - Black belt Academy Class
11am - Grading Group 1
12pm - Grading Group 2
All names below are eligible to grade this month and should have received an email confirming their eligibility. Please check your spam/junk folders if you have not received your email. To secure your place in the grading we must receive a completed colour belt grading registration form by Friday 14th February.
